I really enjoyed reading this; it brought back memories for me as well. Chrissie was the first female artist I heard that was no Tinkerbell. She was tough and sang about stuff I'd never heard anyone else do! I generally listened to male musicians before that because I couldn't stand the sappy stuff most women performed.

The guitar work was also striking: my favorite part of the album is actually the musical dialogue between Farndon and Honeyman-Scott's guitars during "Tattooed Love Boys". It sounds like one of them is assaulting the other.

It sparked a creative revolution with me, leading me into vocal lessons and attempting to write my own song lyrics. I've given up on the rockstar ambition, but the creativity continues, along with many female successors I also enjoy.

Great feature and great post James! You were always way ahead of my musical tastes - I was probably listening to Billy Joel or Olivia Newton-John in 1980! I'm still behind you, but thanks for at least opening my eyes to music NOT in the top 40.
