Those 70s Shows!

Alternative Strokes – Gary Coleman grows up (in a manner of speaking) to inherit his adopted father’s money. He decides to “give back” by adopting a family of Romanian gypsies. Favourite line: “Whatchu talking ’bout, Baltazar?”

Still in the Family – Gloria and Meathead live with a wheelchair-bound Edith, their son Joey and his boyfriend, and their adopted Chinese clone. The opening song finds Gloria and Meathead strumming a guitar and wishing for the days of Watergate and the Vietnam War.

Welcome Back, Horshack – Ron Palillo comes back as a low-paid teacher to the ghetto school where he was once a “Sweathog.” The school has no running water, and the students pass through a metal detector each morning. Ron tells them jokes and tries to encourage them to become teachers, just like him.

What are some other classic 70s shows that need a modern spinoff?

Six Feet Under…Finally!

The first season of Six Feet Under is finally coming out on DVD in two weeks. I found it on Amazon.ca quite cheap. With a promotional coupon, and free shipping, it was $90 after all taxes. This should arrive just in time for my birthday!!

This show is only shown on pay TV here and so my only exposure to it was watching the two-hour season finale at Jish‘s place back in August 2001. It was just enough to hook me!

Survivor

So, unless you’ve been living on a desert island for the last few weeks, you’ll be caught up in the “Survivor” hoopla. After hating Rich all the way through, I have to say I’m not that disappointed that he won the money. He’s definitely the smartest, and he accomplished exactly what he set out to do. But if they gave the money to the cutest, nicest person, then Colleen would be a billionaire! I seem to have developed a little crush. Me and probably about 25 million other guys. I wonder how that will affect her life. Ok, at least this isn’t as embarrassing as my bizarre 1984 crush on Mary Lou Retton…
