Consolation Champs celebrated its third birthday on Monday, July 7. Coincidentally, yesterday around midnight, we welcomed our 100,000th visitor. More likely, we welcomed Google for the 74,379th time. Either way, a nice milestone.

Welcome Bob Sawyer to the sidebar. Bob’s weblog is a beautifully designed marvel of CSS and XHTML goodness. Plus, I like Bob. I think Bob and I could be friends. Whaddya say, Bob?

Phil Wolff has started Don’t Blog, where he is using “future headlines” to explore interesting questions about the future of the weblog. Some of them also made me smile; for instance, how about reading this on CNN in a few years: “Wife wins joint weblog in divorce court”. Check out his other news from the future, when blogging goes mainstream.

Congratulations to Mike and Dineen Wasylik, now known as Dad and Mum, respectively (and respectfully!). And welcome, little Alexander, to the carnival!

Check out Geoblog, a map that updates in (almost) real-time whenever someone posts to their blog. It only works if your blog is listed at GeoURL, so get on over there first if you want to show up on the map. Otherwise, watch the map slowly light up. Fascinating!
