Blog Gossip?

Hmmm. Most popular “searches” on my site this month: “no I don’t love blog gossip” and “gossip sucks.” I guess someone doesn’t appreciate my sense of humour. I wish they would just email me instead of being so cryptic. Oh well, since they don’t love blog gossip, they probably haven’t come back. Not that I really traffic in gossip. I mean, certainly nothing hurtful. I was just speculating on a semi-famous person’s career plans. Just trust me on this one, no harm was intended.

Another popular search item was “Iran Maiden.” Now, I know I’m being optimistic, but it seems wonderful that many web surfers are trying to find out more about this elusive crime fighting woman. Or, maybe those rock dudes just don’t spell too good.

Are you being psychologically tortured by the government? Attacked by flying saucers? Watching too many episodes of the X-files?

More Consumerism

It’s the weekend, hence more consumerism:

  • Ben Folds Five-Whatever and Ever Amen ($10.99)
  • Stevie Wonder-Fulfillingness’ First Finale ($10.99)
  • Aimee Mann-Bachelor No.2 ($18.99)
  • Macy Gray-On How Life Is ($16.99)
  • The Feelies-Crazy Rhythms ($17.99)

I also bought Angels of the Universe, by Einar Mar Gudmundsson. You might remember that this was made into my favourite film at the Toronto International Film Festival this year. I was pretty excited to see it in the overstock bin for $4.99.

Brooke and I went to see Billy Elliot on Friday night. Fairly predictable and corny, but the kid is very cute and a great dancer. The best part may have been the soundtrack which had lots of T-Rex and The Jam and The Clash.

First Computer

While we’re waxing nostalgic, I’d just like to set down for the record that my first computer was an Atari 800XL, purchased in, I think, 1984. An Atari 520ST followed, then a generic 286 PC. My first Mac wasn’t until 1996, a Performa 5200CD. And my current ride, a beige G3-300mhz (purchased in 1998), and a new iBook (Indigo, for those who need to know). Oh, before I forget, I bought an HP-33E programmable calculator back in 1980. That was COOL. And I always wanted one of those Sinclair ZX-80’s that were advertised in the back pages of Omni. Now that my geek credentials are established, tell me what your first computer was.
