Interview With Mr. Z.

Hey, go and read my friend Six’s interview with Jeffrey Zeldman. It’s really good. I’ve sort of admired Zeldman for a while, but didn’t really think he’d be so warm and human (especially not from the mugshot on his site!). Now, he seems so approachable and friendly, I might just stalk him if he goes to SxSW and give him a great big hug. Well, maybe not…

Thanks to you, loyal readers, and especially thanks to Heather, Cherrymag is off and running, with almost 300 visitors yesterday. (Now, what will it take to get Heather to link me again…)

Chris Ware and Daniel Clowes

Just realized how busy my weekend was. I didn’t even mention that on Saturday, I went and stood in line for almost an hour so that I could get some stuff signed by comic artists Chris Ware and Daniel Clowes. After hearing Caterina describe them as “skinny and pale as recently unearthed root vegetables” and speaking “in near whispers,” I was delighted to find them really nice guys, especially Chris. He seems like a really genuine guy, and I appreciated that after almost two hours of signing, he still took several minutes to painstakingly draw a little cartoon inscription on my Jimmy Corrigan book. I will be buying more stuff from this guy.

The Setlist Project

I’ve added a new section under “special” at right. It’s called “the setlist project” and it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while. I’m not an avid collector of setlists, but I’ll take one when I can. I’m not even as much of a concertgoer as I used to be, but I thought scanning and posting setlists would give people a chance to talk about their favourite bands. If you’ve got ’em, scan ’em and send ’em my way, along with your anecdotes about the show. I’ll link to your site and email, if you want. Check out my collection of two (2) setlists!!

Many Thanks to Ev

Many thanks to Ev. I am now in the Blogger directory. Turned out to be my own stupid fault, I had the wrong page listed, but it was cut off in the preferences by a very small text field (listening, Pyrites?). Actually, it really is my own fault. Not even sure it’s good to be listed now, as I’ll be moving to the new domain any day now.

Brooke passes along her thanks for any and all who have checked out Cherrymag. They are just getting rolling, folks. Stay tuned…
