3.5 Hours To Get To Work

Another snowstorm here in Toronto. It took me 3.5 hours to get to work today. The only thing I had for company was Exit Stage Left by Rush, their live CD from 1981. I was never a big Rush fan, but I’m a huge fan of this CD. Perfect arena-sized rock. I regret not going to see them at this stage in their career. It was entirely possible for me, a young lad living in Toronto, to see this Toronto band at the peak of their popularity, but I never did. I guess rocking out on a packed bus filled with shivering grumpy commuters is as close as I’ll get…

Left Behind

Vicious review of latest Christian schlockfest “Left Behind” (is it just me or does that title sound half-assed?) The state of the arts in the evangelical world is just woeful. Not that this ever aspired to art. It’s funny, but also a bit maddening to me.

Spoon Playing SXSW

I’m very excited that my favourite band, Spoon, are from Austin and always play SXSW. This year, they play at the Mercury on March 15. I’m supposed to fly home that morning, but I’m seriously considering changing my ticket to see them. I think it would be a blast. My other experience seeing them was, well, interesting. These guys are just an amazing band, and they have a new CD coming out February 20 on Merge Records, entitled Girls Can Tell. Check them out sometime!
