Linky Richness

Sorry about the whining yesterday. I’ll try not to let it happen again.

In other news, how about that election? It’s still not decided as I write this, as they’re going to do a recount in Florida. Yes, folks, those Nader votes may just have been crucial. And you, yes you, your vote is probably the key to the whole enchilada. And on your birthday, too.

This week’s New Yorker is excellent. In addition to the excellent article on blogging (well, mostly about Meg and Jason’s romance, but it filled in a lot of details for me), there’s an article on fibromyalgia, good Caterina’s affliction. To top it off, it’s the Cartoon Issue.

How’s that for a link-rich experience! Don’t forget to come back!

No One Loves Obscurity

I’ve been a little melancholy of late. No matter what anyone says, everyone wants their site to be popular. Let’s face it, all popularity means is that a lot of people are coming to read what you have to say. The opposite of that is obscurity, and no one loves obscurity. So, in looking for ways to publicize Consolation Champs, I stumbled upon some surefire ways to drive those hits up up up. Thanks a bunch, Neale! Oh, and it wouldn’t hurt, gentle reader, if you helped a bit by sharing the URL with someone, or if you have a site, by linking to me. Please let me know and we’ll work on some form of mutual backscratching.

Warning: Bad Joke

So let me get this straight. Politicians have been telling us for years that there is too much sex and violence on television, in music, and in video games. Then they nominate two guys for President called Bush and Gore?

Seriously, folks, please choose wisely today. Your vote affects the whole world.

Charlie’s Angels

We saw Charlie’s Angels on the weekend, and it was a blast. Like a Bond film with three Bond girls and no boring Bond. The fight scenes were outlandish (and completely ripped off from The Matrix, but aren’t they all nowadays…), and Bill Murray was particularly good as Bosley. Crispin Glover is creepy as a villain (well, he’s just creepy all the time, but here he plays a villain). Oh, and lots of butt-shaking, too, which was a plus. There are even some funny out-takes at the end. Our friend Duffy Knox is a compositor at Sony Pictures Imageworks, and he worked on the special effects for this film. So, an all around good time was had.
